PKR Hand History Features
Your hand histories are automatically saved in a special folder where you installed the PKR client. If you installed it at its default location, the path to your hand histories will be as follows:
C:\Program Files\PKR\handhistory\{username}\{yyyymmdd}\filename.txt
Where {username} is your PKR.com username and {yyyymmdd} is the date that the hand took place. For example, if it took place on Dec 13th, 2008, then \{yyyymmdd}\ path name variable would show up as \20081213\.
If you want to view the hand histories during play, all you need to do is make sure the hand history window in the main client is visible, by looking for it on the right hand side of your client. It will then pop up and you will be able to access a graphical representation of a previous hand you witnessed at the table, with all the actions clearly visible.
PKR Overview
Fish, chips, and the best graphics in all of online poker seem to be the three words most descriptive of PKR’s innovative software. In a first-of-its-kind way, it’s the only software that truly evokes an almost video-game like feel and has utmost quality. What you see on PKR are actually rendered 3d models, much like a video-game but unheard of until fairly recently in the online poker world. See, the vast majority of sites have sprite based graphics, which, while functional for their purpose, cannot ever possibly offer the same kind of graphical level as the PKR download.
Also integral in the PKR experience is your avatar. You get to choose a model to represent you and then you get to customize it. It’s like the online poker version of The Sims, complete with earrings, watches and shoes you can buy with your earned PKR points. You also get to choose from many available chip tricks for your character to perform while at the table, and you will be able to perform certain animations while at the table, such as have your character say “NH,” boo, or cheer loudly, complete in an accent of your choosing. It’s a really fun and entertaining take on otherwise boring and lifeless online poker rooms.
But this level of graphical awesomeness does bring with it certain limitations, as PKR‘s client will limit your ability to multi-table severely. The client will only allow up to 4 tables to run simultaneously. This means that if you truly need 16 tables to run at the same time in your attempt to minimize perceived variance as much as possible, while generating as much rake as humanly possible, you should pretty much look elsewhere.
Amazingly, despite the lacking of heavy multi-tabling features, there are always many tables running on PKR. Whatever your stakes, you can find an appropriate game running from 2c/4c limit all the way up to 10/20 NL, all in 6max, full ring and heads-up varieties.
You will also be able to find the occasional Omaha game running, but Omaha on PKR is not nearly as popular as NL Hold’em.
And if it’s just tournaments you crave, rest assured you will be able to satiate your cravings. There are many different buy-in levels available for both sit-n-go’s and multi-table tournaments, from penny stakes all the way to $1K buy-ins. SNG’s are available up to $1K buy-in heads up, and MTT’s are available up to $250. There are also many satellites available, for both online events on PKR and live events such as the APPT and the WSOP.
PKR is an excellent room to play at, and while it is not optimal in the multi-tabling category, it is more than sufficient in the fun and eye-candy categories. You will not be disappointed. Unfortunately, for you US players, you can't try out PKR, you'll have to play at one of these American poker online rooms.
